WTTED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE B. SNOW, OF BUFFALO, NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR TO THE SNOW DENTAL COM- PANY, OF BUFFALO, NEW YORK, A CORPORATION OF NEW YORK.
PLATFORM FOR DENTAL ARTICULATORS.
To all whom it may concern;-
Be it known that I, GEORGE B. Snow, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city of Buffalo, in the county of Erie and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Platform for Dental Articulators, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improved attachment more especially designed for use with such dental articulators as are shown and described in Letters Patent of the United States numbered 629,631, 870,909 and 912,748. In these articulators, the lower model support is formed of a wire loop; the ends of the loop being bent upward and received into vertical sockets in the body of the articulator. The greater part of the weight of these articulators is situated behind the free portion of the lower model support, and therefore, when the articulator is placed upon a level surface, it has a tendency to fall over backward, unless means are employed to hold it erect. For this purpose, I employ the platform shown in the annexed drawing. This shows the platform, with the free part of a lower model support, shown in broken lines, in situ.
The platform is preferably constructed Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed August 28, 1911.
Patented June 11, 1912.
Serial No. 646,392;
of sheet metal, and consists of a body 1, one end of which is shaped to correspond with the U shaped portion of the model support 2, with a claw or claws 3, formed by bending projections from the body 1; into which claw or claws the front of the model support 2 is received. The body 1 of the platform is extended backward to a point considerably behind the center of gravity of the articulator, and the latter will therefore be maintained in an erect position if the front of its lower model support is placed under the claw 8. The platform 1 may be wider than the Width of the model support 2, and its lateral edges may be bent upward; forming vertical flanges 4-, to prevent lateral displacement of the articulator when it is placed upon the platform.
A platform for dental articulators; consisting of a body having a flat upper surface provided with a claw or claws for the reception of the lower model support of the ar ticulator and lateral vertical flanges; substantially as described.
