v 'l'o'a'll whom it may concern Be it known that ,1, SyLv'Es'rnR W. WARREN, of Boston, in the county of S'uflolkand State of Massachusetts, have invented'a new and useful Improvement in Lamp-Chimneys; and I do hereby declare the ihllowing to be a full and correct-description of my invention, sufiicientto enable others skilled 'in the manufacture to construct the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings which make part .SOf this specification, and in which- Figure l is' a front elevation of my improved lampchimney;

The nature of my inventionconsists in the peculiar shape of the neck of the chimney, in relation to the lower rim and upper portion of the same,fso as to nng more air to the center of the flame.

which it is held by means of spring catches on the rim of the cone, which enter into notches or niches o in the rjm m. p

From thisrim m a conical neck, h, having'two flat tened sides, rises,-converging at its upper part, as shown clearly in fig. 2, where the upper part of the chimney commences. This part is of elliptical shape,

contracting'iu continuous graduation toward its top, its lower ends being wider than the neck 72, and having curved or round corners. It will be easily understood that the m ore air passes through the center of the cone-shapedneck lathe more it will spread the flame in the chimney, and to obtain this spreading I give the neck and chimney its peculiar shape.
