UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
DANIEL KABER, OF CLEVELAND, OHIO.
SIGN CHARACTER.
To all whom 'it may concern.'
Be it known that I, DANIEL KABER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sign Characters, of which the following .is a specification.
This invention relates to improvementsin sign characters and the like and is preferably of a construction wherein the character itself is cut from the sheet of paper or similar material treated on the front side with a coating of the adhesive substance upon which a corresponding sign character is placed forming a coating.
More specifically the invention relates to a sign character comprising a sheet of transparent paper cut in the shape of the character and having a coating of adhesive material on the front side and a coating representing the sign character on both sides and of less size so that a margin is left thereby leaving a portion of the adhesive material exposed by which the character may be secured to a Window or any similar place.
The invention may be fully briefly summarized as consisting in the sign character' as set forth in the following description, drawings and claim.
Referring to the drawings, Figure 1 is a front elevation of a sign character; and Fig. 2 is a section upon the line 2 2 of Fig. 1 showing the several thicknesses of the body or paper, the adhesive coating, and the sign character coatings on the two sides.
In carrying out the invention I prefer to Specification of Letters Patent.
Application iiled .Tune 24, 1911.
Patented May 21, 1912.
Serial No. 635,135.
employ a sheet of transparent paper 1 cut 'in the form of the sign character and having upon the front side thereof a coating 2 of adhesive substance and upon the front side a coating 3 corresponding to the sign character and spaced from the edge thereof to leave exposed a margin of the adhesive coating 2. A coating 4 is applied to the back and is made to register with the coating 3 on the front to intensify the coloring of the sign character. The coatings 3 and 4; are of printers ink or similar printing material.
In practice the user selects the sign characters which are to form the sign and moistens the adhesive margins and places the characters upon glass or any other transparent substance.
Having described my invention, I claim A sign character comprising a sheet of transparent paper cut in the shape of the character and coated first upon the front side with adhesive material and then coated on both sides in register and over the adhesive material with the material setting forth the sign character, the sign character coating portions being smaller than the paper character itself, thus leaving a margin of adhesive covered surface surrounding the coated character.
In testimony whereof I aiiiX my signature in presence of two witnesses as follows:
DANIEL KABER.
Witnesses:
A. L. LORD, C. H. Treason.
