UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
PAUL J. STUPARICH, OF SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA.
PHOTOGRAPHIC CARD-MOUNT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 687,411, dated November 26, 1901. Application filed August 19. 1901. Serial No. 72.517. (No model.)
To aZZ whom, it Nea/y concern:
Be it known that I, PAUL J. STUPARICH, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of San Francisco, State of California, have invented an Improvement in Photographic Card-Mounts; and I hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same.
My invention relates to a novel formation of cards which may be employed as photographic mounts, and for other like or similar purposes.
It consists in forming the card with a pasteboard or similar base of considerable thickness and applying to the front a thin veneer of wood, which is cemented to the cardboard so as to form substantially an integral part thereof. The surface thus formed may after- Ward be indented or raised by a die in any suitable or desired form.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, A is the base of my improved card, which is made of paper or what is termed pasteboard, having a considerable thickness and consequent stiffness or rigidity to resist bending or distortion.
2 is a thin veneer, made of Wood of any suitable or desired description ,and this veneer is cemented and permanently attached to one side of the pasteboard backing, thus forming a composite structure the face of which serves to receive photographic mounts or for other required purposes. This face may be formed with a raised central portion, or it may be sunken so as to form a sort of outline or border interior to the outer periphery and serving as an ornamental margin for the pho tograph which may be mounted thereon.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is*
l. The combination in a photographic mount, of a flexible and impressible backing and afacing of correspondingly iiexible and impressible Wooden veneer.
2. The combination in a photographic mount of a flexible material capable of permanent indentation and a facing of exible and mpressible Wood veneer cemented to and forming a permanent part of the mount.
3. The combination in a photographic mount of a foundation or body of iieXible and impressible material, a facing of thin iiexible Wood veneer adherent to and forming a permanent part of the body, said mount having its surface afterward indented or slinken as described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand.
PAUL J. STUPARICH.
