CURTAIN-FIXTURE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed November 25, 1911.
Patented. Apr. 30, 1912.
Serial No. 662,257.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, STANIsLAU SKWARO- ZEWSKI, subject of the Emperor of Austria- Hungary, residing at West Lynn, in the county of Essex and Commonwealth of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain-Fixtures, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the ac companying drawing.
This invention relates to a curtain fixture and the primary object of my invention is to provide a simple and durable fixture for movably supporting the upper ends of curtains in a manner that the curtains can be easily and quickly adjusted without injury to the curtains and without resorting to the use of rings and pins.
Another object of this invention is to provide a curtain fixture that presents a neat and attractive appearance in connection with a window, door or alcove frame, the fixture being made of light and durable metal susceptible to any desired finish or ornamentation.
With the above and other objects in view, the invention resides in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter specifically described and then claimed.
Reference will now be had to the drawing, wherein Figure 1 is a perspective view of the fixture, Fig. 2 is an end view of the same, Fig. 3 is a cross sectional view of the fixture, and Fig. 4 is a rear elevation of a portion of the fixture.
A fixture in accordance with this invention comprises brackets 1 having the inner ends thereof provided with heads 2 and screws 3, the screws permitting of the brackets being secured to a frame or suitable support. The outer ends of the brackets are bent to provide flat eyes 4 to receive fiat pins 5 formed by reducing the end of depending lugs 6, forming part of the top plate 7 of a housing 8. The top plate is slitted at the ends and the slitted portions bent downwardly to form said lugs. The housing 8 has the ends thereof rounded to terminate in end walls 9 and connecting said end walls is a longitudinal rail or rod 10. Movably mounted upon the rail or rod 10 are grooved rollers 11 having the spindles 12 thereof provided with depending two-part clamps 13. The lower large ends of each clamp are connected together by a screw 14 and a winged thumb nut 15, the lower ends of said clamp being clamped upon the upper edge of acurtain 16. The clamps and the rollers thereof cannot be readily observed on account of the front wall of the housing, and the front wall of said housing can be suitably ornamented, whereby the fixture in its entirety will present a neat and attractive appearance.
What I claim is A curtain fixture comprising a pair of brackets having the inner ends thereof provided with heads and screws, said brackets having their outer ends bent to provide flat eyes, a top plate having its ends provided with lugs extending into said eyes whereby said plate is connected to said brackets, a front plate depending from said top plate and having inturned ends, a rail connecting the ends of said front plate, and curved rollers traveling upon said rails and provided with means for suspending a curtain.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
STANISLAU SKW'ARCZEWSKI.
