FRANZ KNIPP, 0F DARMSTADT, GERMANY.
DETACHABLE SOLE FOR SLIPPERS AND THE LIKE.
lb all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANZ KNIPP, a subject of the German Emperor, and residing at Darmstadt, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Detachable Soles for Slippers and the Like, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to a detachable sole, for employment in connection with slippers and the like.
According to the invention a rubber sole is provided at the toe and at the heel with an undercut edge adapted to take into a U-shaped metal strip fitted on the sole of the slipper.
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 representing a bottom plan of the slipper, and Fig. 2, a cross-section, on the line AB of Fig. l, of the connected soles.
The ordinary sole a of the slipper is provided at the toe and at the heel with an undercut edge to receive strips 6 of aluminum or the like of U-shaped cross-section.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed October 26, 1911.
Patented Feb. 20, 1912.
Serial No. 656,965.
These strips are extended for a'suitable distance along the edge, as shown in Fig. 1, and I serve to receive a detachable rubber sole 0 which is likewise provided with an undercut edge to fit in the groove of said strips. When the rubber sole is connected to the strips in'this manner it is firmly held on the slipper and prevented from spontaneous loosening. At the same time it is easily removed and slipped into position when required.
I claim:
A detachable sole for slippers and the like, comprising a rubber sole provided at the toe and at the heel with an undercut edge, and U-shaped metal strips connected to the ordinary sole of the slipper to receive said undercut edge and hold the rubber sole in position, substantially as set forth.
