COLUMBIA PLANOGRAPH co" WAsfiINGToN. n c,
WILLIAM J. FISHER, OF SAULT STE. MARIE, MICHIGAN.
COMBINED DOOR-HANGER AND TRACK.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM a citizen of the United States, residing at Sault Ste. Marie, in the county of Chippewa, State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined Door-Hangers and Tracks; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in combined door hangers and tracks and the leading object of the invention is the construction of an improved sliding door or runner and an improved track for the hanger 0r runner.
WVith the above and other objects in view the invention consists in certain constructions, combinations ,and arrangements of parts, clearly described in the following specification and clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation showing the improved carriage and runner in operative position on a door and frame. Fig. 2 is a detail sectional View taken on the line 22 of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a detail sectional view of the upper track detached. Fig. 4 is a sectional view taken on the line 44 of Fig. 1. Fig. 5 is a detail view of the lower edge of the door or track showing the door in section.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, 5 denotes a sliding door and 6 a wall or frame. On the lower edge of the door 5 a member having a channel 7 is secured, and into this channel a rib or track 9 of the base plate 8 fits. On the wall or frame 6 the upper track, consisting of an inverted U- shaped metal member, is secured. This member is provided with a long leg or side 10, a short leg or side 11, and an upstanding rib 12. Between the legs 10 and 11 of the upper track member the upper edge of the door 5 is received.
The doors 5 and 6 carry two bracket arms 16 and 21. The bracket arm 16 is formed with a thickened lower portion 17, which engages the leg or side 11 of the track, and is secured to the door. On the upper end of the bracket 16 the vertical member 14 is Specification of Letters Patent.

secured, and laterally of this member a second vertical member 13 is arranged, the two members 13 and 14 being connected at their upper ends by the horizontal member 15. The members 13 and 14 are considerably longer than the width of the hanger 16 and between the ends of said members the wheels 18 and 19 are arranged upon the shafts 20, which are secured to the vertical members l3'and 14. The wheels 18 and 19 are adapt ed to contact with the rib 12 and the central portion of the upper track member.
The hanger 21 is formed with a thickened lower end which engages the edge of the leg or side 11 and is also formed with an inverted upper end which carries a wheel 21, engaging with the rib 12 and the upper track member.
I claim:
1. In a door hanger, the combination with an inverted U-shaped track and having a vertical rib and a long and a short leg, the long leg being attachable to a wall; of a bracket member provided with a thickened lower end adapted to be secured to a door and to engage the edge of the short leg of the track, and a wheel mounted in the bracket and adapted to engage the rib of the track member, the short leg of the track member being spaced outwardly of the long leg to receive the upper edge of a door.
2. In a door hanger, a track member having the combination with a rib on its bearing surface, a door bracket, vertical members secured to the upper end of the bracket and extending transversely thereof, and wheels mounted between the ends of the vertical members and adapted to engage the rib of the track member, said track member being of inverted U-shaped form with a long and a short leg, the long leg forming an attaching member, and the short leg engaging the bracket, said bracket being formed with a thickened lower end to engage the lower edge of said short leg.
In testimony whereof, I aflix my signature, in presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM J. FISHER. Witnesses:
