Adjacent to the reduced end of each of the end- plates 30 and 31 is formed an overhanging part or shoulder, as 36, which is provided by cutting away said reduced ends, and upon the overhanging shoulders 36 is held the ends of a cross-plate or bar 37. Upon the cross-bar 37 is a strip of rubber, or other suitable material, as 37 which is preferably wedgeshaped or tapered so that the apex thereof may be employed toform a divisional line when the stamping device is in use. Ap proximately mldway of the enlarged portion of each of the end-plates30 and 31 is a slot 38, and through each of said slots is directed a screw 40 and 41, the threaded end of each of which engages a threaded recess 42 provided in the ends-of a remov able bar or rod 44 disposed between the end- I plates 30 and 31. Upon the bar or rod 40 and between the end-plates 30- and 31 are provided a plurality of revoluble collars 45. In using the device 10 for stamping upon goods the cost mark and selling price the members 14 and 15 are swung apart upon the hinge 49, and one or more of'the toothed Wheels 27 of the member or part 14 is'revolved by the finger of a person for rotating the respective collar 26 of said wheels andin turn the endless bands 28 upon said collars will be moved until the letters or characters 29 thereof are arranged in alinement upon the face of the bridge-plate 21 to designate the .cost mark. ,In order to designate the selling price upon the goods simultaneously or independentlyof the costmark, one or more of the toothed wheels 46' of the member or part 15 is revolved in a similar manner for rotating-the respective collar- 45v of said wheels and the endless bands thereupon will be moved until the numerals or characters 48 thereof are ar-' ranged in alinement upon the face of the bridge-plate 35 of said member. If it is desired to stamp the cost-mark and selling price simultaneously the members or parts 14 and 15 of the device 10 are then closed and locked together as above described, and said device is used in the same manner as the ordinary rubber stamp of this class, and the cost mark will be shown at one side of a divisional line which will be stamped by the apex of the tapered strip 37 and the selling price will be shown at the other side of the divisional line,
In the foregoing. description I have embodied the preferred form ofmy invention, but I do not wish to be understood as limit ing myself thereto, as I am aware that 'modifications maybe made therein withoutdeparting from the principle or sacrificing 1 any of the advantages of this invention, therefore I reserve to myself the right to make such changes as fairly fall within the scope thereof.

both having two spaced apart end-plates,
each of said end-plates having an enlarged end and a reduced end and having a slot provided in the enlargedend thereof; topplate provided upon the enlarged ends of the end-plates of each member; a bridgeplate connecting. the reduced ends of said end-plates of each member; a shaft arranged between the end-plates of the members and having threaded recessed ends; a screw passq ing through the slot of each of the endplates and engaging one of the threaded recesses of each shaft; a plurality of collars r'otatably held upon each shaft, atoothed the collars and adapted" when moved to members; a cross-bar connecting one of the edges of the end-plates of one of the members adjacent to the b1"idge-p late at the reduced end thereof; a tapered strip of material provided upon the cross-bar; means provided upon the top-plates of both of the members and adapted topivotallgy connect said members; and a lock provided upon one of the end-plates of the members and adapted to hold said members in locked engagement. 1

A stamping device of the character described, comprising two movable members, both having two spaced apart end-plates, each of said end-plates having an enlarged end and a reduced end and having a slot provided in the enlarged end thereof; a topplateprovided upon the enlarged ends of the end plates of both members; a bridgeplate connecting the reduced ends of said end-plates of each member;a shaftarranged between the end-plates of both members and having threaded recessed ends;-a screw passing through the slot of each of the endplates and engaging one of the threaded re cesses of each shaft; a plurality of collars rotata'bly held upon each shaft; a toothed wheel provided upon one edge of each of the collars and adapted when moved to rotate the collar; a plurality of endless bands each guided over one of the -collars and trained over the bridge-plate of the members; a cross-bar connecting one of the edges of the end-plates of one of the members adjacent to the bridge-plate at the reduced end thereof; atapered strip of material provided upon the cross-bar; means provided upon the top-plate c both of the members and adapted to pivotally connect said members; and a catch provided upon each enclplate of the members and adapted to hold said members in locked engagement.

A stamping device of the character described, comprising two movable members, both having two spaced apart end-plates, each of said end-plates having an enlarged end, a reduced end, a straight edge and a tapered edge and each having a slot provided in the enlarged end thereof; a topplate provided upon the enlarged ends of .the end-plates of both members; a bridgeplate connecting the reduced ends of said end-plates of each member; a shaft arranged between the end-plates of both of the members and having threaded recessed ends; a screw passing through the slot of each of the end-plates and engaging one of the threaded recesses of each shaft; a plurality of collars rotatably held upon each shaft; a toothed wheel provided upon one edge of each of the collars and adapted when moved to rotate the collar; a plurality of endless bands each guided over one of the collars and trained over the bridge-plate of the AUGUST U.
