Be it known that we, \VALTER VILLIAM Lance and REGINALD HERBERT TAPPER, subjects of the King of England, residing at Calgary, Province of Alberta, and Dominion of Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fence-Posts, of

This invention relates to fence posts and more particularly to one formed entirely from metal. l
The invention has forits object to provide a post of this character so constructed that. the line wires forming a fence may be easily and quickly strung and adjusted.
A further object of the invention -is toot weather, the life of the same being indefinite.- l
A still further object of the inventionis to provide a post upon which either a fabric or line wires may be firmly clamped and supported in a simple and effective manner. in the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 is a front elevation of the post; Fig. 2 is a longitmlinal Feet ional view of the same; Fig. 3 is a sectional view on the line 33 of Fig. 1; Fig. 4 is a perspective view of one of the to that shown in Fig. 3 but indicating a hollow form of post.
Referring to the drawing the numeral 1 designates the metallic post, the same being substantially circular in cross section, the lower end of which is tapered and jagged, as is clearly shown at topermit the post try be driven into the ground, easily, and at the same time keep it securely in position.- A longitudinal slot 3 is formed through the post and. intermediate the point 2 and the upper end thereof. The line wires 14 are passed through the hooks 8 of the securing devices, and upon manipulation of the clamping nuts 11 said wires will be crimpcd to conform to the recess 3, and securely held against creeping.
From this construction it will be seen that the line wires may be spaced properly upon vertical adjustment of the securing devices .6. the same being held firmly against vertical movement or displacement'by the coacting serrations Having thus described the invention, we claim I v The combination of a fence post haying a longitudinal slot, said slot opening into a recess, said recess having its bottom walls serrated. securing devicesadapted for vertical adjustment in the recess, said devices consisting of heads having formed integral therewith hooks, serrations formed upon the innersurfaces of the heads and adapted to conform with the serrations in the recex, threaded shanks carried by the heads'and adapted to pass through the slot, and means carried by the shanks folclamping the securing devices in their adjusted pos1 tions in the recess, whereby the line wires of a fence are secured by said hooks.
