Be it known that'L-WILLIAM 'O. LoY, a

. citizen' ofthe United States, residing at Rochester, in the county of Fulton and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Glove- Nails; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and' exact descriptionof the invention, such as willenable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the let ters and'figures of reference marked there:

My invention has for its object to provide a glove upon the ends of the fingers on which is applied a nail in every way 'simi-- lar to the finger-nail of the human hand; and my invention also has/for its object to provide a nail to be applied to existing gloves in the manner as will be hereinafter fully described. 3

Referring to the accompanyingdrawingz' Figure 1 is a plan View of a glove illuswhich as shown in Fig. 3 can be provided with a series of t'an'gs 4 around the sides and back of the nail so that the nail can be applied-to any'existing' glove. In manu-. factumng the. gloves, however, with thenails attached the nails, can be secured in the manner shown in Fig. 4 in which the ma terial 5 pf the glove extends over the side and rear edges of the nail, this construction presenting a neater appearance and approaching more closely the finger-nail of the human hand. As will appear from Fig.

2 the tangs 4 are-bent back under. the na1l after being passed through the material of the glove finger in such manner as to present no obstruction tothefinger of the hand.

Gloves constructed in accordance with my invention are particularly useful in'shopping and for various other purposes when small flat articles like coins have to-be handled and picked up from counters and the like. his a matter of common knowledge that it is extremely diflicult ,to" pick up. from a counter, table or the like a small flat article like a coin or pin, and consequently it is the usual practice to remove either one or-bo-th gloves from the hands when handling coins and other small articles. A glove, however, constructed in accordance with my invention need not be removedfrom thehand when handling coins, pins or the like as the nail on each finger of the glove allows the articles to be handled or color the nails to agree with the color of the glove'in such manner that the nails will not be a prominent feature and will notcontrast in color with the glove.

Having thus fully described my inven tion what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is

l. A glove provided at the outer ends of the finger tips with separate rigid plates in imitation of finger nalls, and means for securing them in position on said finger tips.

2. A glove nail to be applied to a finger of a glove on the back thereof, said glove nail comprising means for securing the nail to the glove, said gl'ove nailbeing shaped in plan in imitation of a humanfinger nail.
