Be it known that I, CARL A. ANDERSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Rosalia, in the county of Whitman and State of Washington, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hall- Trees, of which the following is a specification. I

This invention relates to hall trees and its object is to produce a device of this class that is especially adapted for the support of wet garments; means are provided for supporting the same until dry and for preventing the water that may drip from the said garments from reaching the floor beneath the hall-tree.

lVith the foregoing and other objects in view the invention consists in the combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter fully described in the following specification, pointed out in the claims and illustrated in the accompanying drawing which forms a part of said specification.

Referring to the drawing, the same is a longitudinal section in elevation.

The drawing illustrates the preferred form of my invention which comprises a base 2 that is in the form of a basin and is supported upon suitable legs 3 that rest upon the floor. This basin is provided with an upturned rim 4 and the bottom of the base slopes downward gradually from its center to the rim so that water falling in the basin at or near the center will gravitate to the rim. A suitable vent 5 is provided in the bottom of the basin near the rim and a receptacle 6 supported by arms 7 attached to the under side of the basin bottom retains the said receptacle in position beneath the vent 5.

In approximately the center of the basin 2 a vertical pipe 8 is held above the base by supports 9 secured to the basin bottom. At the upper or opposite extremity of the pipe 8 another basin 10, provided with a centrally disposed aperture 11 in alinement with the opening in the pipe, is secured to the said pipe by supports 12. This basin is provided with an upturned rim 13 but its bottom slopes from this rim to the central aperture 11 so that it may be drained through the said aperture. A plurality of screw-eyes 14L are secured to and depend from the under side of the basin l0 and are adapted to retain suitable garment hangers 15 therein. Within the basin 10 a hollow member 16 circular in horizontal cross sect1on and having a base 17 is supported in an inverted position. The horizontal diameter of the member 16 is a trifle less than that of the basin so that it may fit snugly in the said basin. The member 16 is re-' tained in position by its own weight and may be manually removed when desired. From the inner surface of the base of this member a plurality of screw-eyes 18 depend for the support of garment hangers 19.

Should the articles retained by the garment hangers 19 be wet the water dripping therefrom will fall to the bottom of the basin 10 and exhaust through the vent l1 and through the pipe 8 into the basin 2 from which to pass out through the vent 5 in said basin into the receptacle 6 when it may be emptied. Water dripping from the garments supported upon the hangers 15 will be received by the basin 2 and pass out into the receptacle 5.

What I claim is 1. A hall-tree comprising a base having a vent therein, a receptacle removably retained beneath said base in alinement with the aforesaid vent, a vertical pipe supported above the said base, a basin having a centrally disposed vent secured to said pipe and a plurality of screw-eyes secured to the said basin.

2. A hall-tree comprising a base having a vent therein, a receptacle beneath said base in alinement with the aforesaid vent, a vertical pipe supported above said base, a basin having a centrally disposed vent secured to said pipe, a hollow inverted member disposed in said basin and screw-eyes secured to the base of said member and to the aforesaid basin.
