ARTICLE OF TABLEWARE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 364,025, dated May 31, 1887 Application filed August 7, 1886.

Be it known that I, GEORGE LEONARD, of Newton, in the county of Middlesex and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements. in. Articles of Table-Ware, of which the following is a specifi:

cation.

My invention has relation to table-ware,and

tooth-picks, tapers, &c., having a base perforated around its upper edge near its margin to receive the nut-picks, and provided'on its upper-face within the circle of such marginal perforations with a tooth-pick cup or holder and a receptacle for tapers, as well as means for carrying or handling it.

In order to enable others skilled'in the art to make and use my invention, I will now proceed to describe the same, having reference to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, the invention'being particularly pointed out and distinctly claimed at the ,end of the description of its construction and the manner of using it.

Of the drawings, Figure 1 represents a perspective view of the device, the nut-picks,

tooth-picks, and tapers being shown as removed. Fig. 2 represents a side view of the device with the several articles it is designed to hold in place therein, a part being shown as broken away. Fig. 3 represents a rear end view. I

In the upper face of thebase, near the margin thereof, are formed a series of holes or perforations, b, designed to receive the points of a number of nut-picks and hold the same in a substantially upright position. The nut-picks are here shown as made in the form" of horseshoe-nails, though this form of nut-pick, as also the design of the body or base shown, is not of essence in this invention.

A standard, 0, is secured to the upper face of the body and provided at its upper end with a ring, d, to facilitate the handling or carrying of the device. I have shown the base or body of my invention as constructed in the form of a horses 8o hoof inverted, with a shoe thereon, for the simple reason that the design is pleasing to the eye and is such as to make the rim j a. matter of ornament. Any other design may,

however, be employed, since the structure, 8

and not the form, is the essence of the invention, said structure adapting the device to be used as an article of table-ware when nuts are served, and to hold such things as are generally wanted for use after eating nuts.
