The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same To all whom it may concern Be it known that 1,-HUGH SAsesrsn, of Bnflalo,

in the county of Erie, in the State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in tains or to which His most nearly connected to make and use the same, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings making a part of this specification,

The nature of my invention consists in--- V First, the manuerot constructing the cover, the uppe part of which is stamped in one piece, with a projection below of the proper form to receive the lower rim.

Second, the construction of the top or upper part of the can, consisting of two pieces st-amped to the necessary form, with a projection so arranged. that 'ea'chmay be slipped into a rim made to receive them, for .the purpose of fastening and holding them firmly together, in which condition the upper part consists of the mouthpiece for receiving the cover, and the lower part, the breast, or that part which covers the body-of the can. i

My invention further consists in the construction and manner of putting together the bottom of the can, th'esame, also, consisting of two partsfirst, the bottom, stamped in one piece, with a rim projecting'upward to receive the body or sidesot' the can; and a: second rim or project-ion, toreceive the bottom rim or second part.

In the said drawings- 7 A represents the turret the can. one piece, as shown in fig. 3, with the projection R, to receive the rimvA, which is then soldered bolt in the usual way.

It is stamped in B is the mouth-piece-for receiving thc'covr. It; is also stamped in one piecc, with a projection downward marked Q, for receiving the rim G.

D represents the breast or upper part of the body of the can. projecting upward to slip into the rim (J, and a iim' projecting downward for receiving the body of the can, marked 1, in figs. 1 and 2. T

The parts B and Dare out through at B'za-ud D by means ofsteel (lies, so as to leave, an opening after being slipped into therim G. They are then soldered firmly together.

G represents the bottom of the can. It is also stamped into the required shape, with the rim L projecting upward, so that it may be slipped into the rim H, against the projections 1i[,,.which keeps it from going down too i'a-r.- The inside'ofthe rim L is of the proper sizcvto receive the body E.

All the parts, afiter being put togeth er 'su bstantiall y as herein shown, are soldered in place, and thereby constitute a strong, durable, and easily-constructed milk-can.

I represents the handleto the cover, and the letters K K represent the handles for the can.

E represents a rim which is slipped over the body of the can, for the purpose of holding it more firmly to the breast 1). V

The body of the can, as shownjin fig. 2, is made smaller at the top and bottom, so as to form a shouldcr, as shown at R and S, for the edges of the part to close against when put together, and so that the rim E may fit more closely, preparatory-to being soldered firmly inplace.

Having thus fully and clearly described my invention and its construction, What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. The cover, consisting of the parts A, with flange R and A, constructed as described.

2. The breast, consisting of the parts 13 and B, D and D, and ring 0, constructed substantially as described. I
