Description
W. R. AXE. BARN DOOR HANGER.
No. 100,351. Patented-Marl, 1870.
n PETERS ooqwommouwasmuumn u a I sitedsmut amt can.
Letters Patent N 100,3 51 ,datd March 1, 187i).
IMPROVEMENT m BARN-DOOR HANG-HE'S.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and mating part of we same To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, WILLIAM R. AXE, of Rockton, in the county of Winnebago, and in the State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Barn-Door Rollers; and I dohereby declare that the following is a full,'clear, and exact description thereof, rei'erepce being-had to the accompanying dra wings and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
The nature of my invention consists in making slots in the standard so as to admit the insertion of the rollgr with two bearings, as hereinafter more fully set forth.
To enable others skilled inthe art to make'and use my invention, 1 will now proceed to describeits construction and operation.
In the drawings- Figure 1 is a front view, and
Figure 2 is a cross section of aside elevation.
A is a grooved roller of ordinary form made of iron cast around its journal B, which'is preferably made of wrought iron.
G is the standard or plate, which is cast with slots 0 and 0, each of a width equal to the diameter of the jonrnal B. Slot 0 is sufficiently long to allow the journal ready admission to its position, as shown more clearly in fig, 2. The slot 0 is open at its lower end,
so that the journal B can be easily placed in position, (see fiy. 2,) and yet be long enough to prevent the er from slipping out of place too easily.
\e standard 0 has screw-holes d d d d, by means of which, when proper screws are screwed on, the standard is firmly secured to the door. f
The barn-door roller, when constructedas above described, having been secured to the door, is then hung, so that the groove of roller A shall rest on the head or rod D, which is secured by some suitable -means above the door, and, by pushing the door in the usual manner, the.roller A will turn upon its two bearings,
and so run smoothly along as desired.
The advantage of my invention is in having two bearings for the roller, and in the simple manner oi constructingthe standard so that the roller and' standard, when combined, will form a simple, durable, cient, and cheap barn-door roller or hanger.
Having thus fully described my invention,
.What 1 claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A barn-door hanger, with slotsc and c, in combination with the roller A, having two bearings, constructed substantially as described, and operating as and for the purposes set i'orth, I
In testimony that I claim the above-doscribedcertuin new and useful improvements in barnrdoor"-ri llers,
I have hereunto signed my name this 9th day of lin gust, 1869.
WILLIAM R. AXE.
