Description

UNITED sTATEs PATENT oFEioE.,
I PHILIP HANG, 0F NEWl YORK, N. Y. I
'CARBON-SHEET.
specification or Letters Ptent. Patented Aug. 29, 1911. l Application iled Aprill, 1911. Serial No. 620,001, v
To all whom it may concern; y
Be it linown that l, PHILir HANO, a citizen of the United States; residingI at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Carbon-Sheets, of which lthe following is a specification.
bon paperl having two or more different colors of carbon.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 is a plan-view of a sheetof carbon paper embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical section of thersame.
My improved carbon paper is coa-ted upon one side only with carbon material.
In'Fig. `1 the red portion of the carbon'is Vdesignated by the letter a and the blueor black portion by the letter b.
lhile I have only shown in the illustration a sheet with two colors, I do not confine myself to 'this and there inn y be two or more colors on a sheet yif desired. And, furthermore, I do not restrict my invention to a4 sheet of carbon paper wherein the portions,
of contrasting color are arran ed in the specific relation shown in the raWing, as the `portions of contrasting color maybe differently arranged in accordance' with the particular pu ose for. which the vsheet is to be employe vFor exa1np1e,'if it is .desir-ed. to retain 4a. carbon copy of a letter whereon the name and residence of-the 'addressee and the snbjectmatterof the letter shall appear in a color contrasting with the maln portion of the 'letter,' then the upper marginal portion of the sheet willl be of f y contrasting color as compared,` with-v the '50 loweronmain portion of the sheet. 4Where 1t .is desired to retain carbon copies of invoices" havlng portions of the invoices -in contrasting colors as compared with the remaining portions1 the contrasting colors of theA carbon sheet will be arranged accordingly, and this difference in arrangement may be Varied to accommodate' the particular use to which the carbon sheet isY i l carbon sheet may be used to take the impre sion, in contrasting colorsgofV a pen cil or other hand imple1nent,' for may: be
' used to take the impression. of a Atype of a typewriting machine. In both cases the carbon sheet will be made 'use'of'in-just the manner in which carbon sheets of solid" or one color are now utilized.' n
The sheet of carbon paper is adapted to be insertedbetween two sheets of writing say, throughout the operation of writing upon 'the top sheet of paper, the three sheets, name1y,'thel two sheets of writing paper andthe interposed'carbon sheet main# i tain a fixed relative position.
I claim: f j- As ,a new article of manufacture a multicolored sheet o f carbon paper adapted to l 80v be interposed between two sheets of writing s paper in fixed relation 'thereto, substantially as described.'
.fn testimony whereof I Ahave hereunto set r i my hand in the presence of twoV subscribing witnesses. i
