Abstract

A method for predicting fracture healing comprises clinical examination, radiography. The method further provides for detection of genetic polymorphism of methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR C677T), nitric oxide synthase (eNOS T 786) and measurement of C-reactive protein (CRP) and osteocalcin concentration. The fracture healing may be predicted if homozygous carrier status of 677-CC and heterozygous carrier status of 786-TC are revealed and the level of CRP is 1.7-5.2 mg/l and that of osteocalcin is 17.2-38.0 ng/ml.
