Abstract

A method for predicting fracture healing comprises clinical examination, radiography. The method further provides for detection of genetic polymorphism of methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR C677T) and measurement of interleukine-6 (IL-6), C-reactive protein (CRP) and pyridinoline concentrations. The fracture healing may be predicted if heterozygous carrier status of 677-CT is revealed and the level of IL-6 is 3.3-8.8 ng/l, the level of CRP is 1.7-5.2 mg/l and that of pyridinoline is 4.5-6.5 ng/ml.
