Abstract

A method for manufacturing a self-venting composite film for food package is disclosed. The composite film comprises a base layer material with a plurality of micro gaps, which adheres to another sealing layer through an adhesive layer. It can be applied to an airtight package in either bag pack or in container pack. Foodstuff can be closely packed in a refrigerated or frozen status and be heated up directly with a microwave oven. During microwaving, this composite film regulates the heated and pressurized steam without the bursting the closed pack film. This composite film is suitable for airtight food package with longer shelf life. Packed frozen food can be cooked directly from freezer to microwave oven without prior defrosting or pre-opening the package to prevent bursting during cooking. Moisture preservation is another feature with this film, which prevents the packed foodstuff from drying and losing the flavor.
