Abstract
The invention relates to a multiple gear transmission for a bicycle, comprising an inlet shaft (22) and an outlet shaft (93) which are mounted in a housing (H). The inlet shaft (22) is embodied such that it can receive pedal cranks (5) and both ends thereof protrude from the housing (H) and both ends of the outlet shaft (93) also protrude from the housing (H) and a drive pinion (111) is embodied in said end thereof. The invention is characterised by the following characteristics; a) at least one intermediate shaft (45) is mounted in a parallel manner between the inlet shaft (22) and the outlet shaft (93) in the housing (H), b) at least two toothed wheels (200, 201; 202, 203; 204, 205) are arranged on the inlet shaft (22), the at least one intermediate shaft (44, 45, 62) and the outlet shaft (93), c) the toothed wheels (200, 201; 204, 205) arranged on at least two of the shafts (22, 93) can be connected in a rotationally fixed manner to the respective shaft (22, 93) by coupling means (29, 32; 102, 104), d) all of the toothed wheels (200, 201; 202, 203; 204, 205) are in permanent contact with the other toothed wheel.
