Abstract

The present invention provides a liquid crystal alignment agent which may form a liquid crystal alignment film having good storage stability, excellent transparency and liquid crystal alignment property. The liquid crystal alignment agent comprises [a] 100 parts by weight of a polyimide having at least one repeating unit represented by the formulae (A) to (C) respectively: wherein n is an integer of 1 to 3 and m is an integer of 1 to 20, and in the polymer chain the amount of aromatic ring is 25% by weight or less, based on the total weight of polymer; and [b] 0.5 to 20.0 parts by weight of an epoxy group-containing compound which has at least one compound represented by formulae (D) to (J) respectively.
