Abstract

FIELD: manufacture of engines; power plants with open cycle. SUBSTANCE: thermal piston engine has at least two pairs of cylinders 1 and 2 of different displacement volume; first pair includes cylinders of lesser displacement volume and second pair includes cylinders of larger displacement volume; cylinders have rods 3 and 4. First pair of cylinders 1 is brought in communication with air intake duct 7 through intake controllable valves 6 and with heat exchanger 10 through delivery automatic valves 8; second pair of cylinders 2 is brought in communication with heat exchanger through intake valves 13 and with preheater 17 where heat exchanger is located through exhaust valves 15. First pair of cylinders 1 is additionally provided with passage 11 which connects both cylinders and controllable bypass valves 12 mounted in joint of passage with each cylinder 1. Valves 12 are provided with drive for opening the valves at moment when piston 3 is at top or bottom dead centers. EFFECT: increased compression ratio and consequently enhanced efficiency due to additional passage which connects cylinders of first pair and controllable bypass valves, enhanced volumetric efficiency due to use of controllable intake valves which also enhances efficiency. 1 dwg
