Abstract

FIELD: engine engineering. SUBSTANCE: during compression stroke, air is compressed in chamber 4 with main piston 3 and air pressure effects on additional double-step piston 6 resulting in its moving and compressing spring 17, oil in main chamber 7, and fuel in bellows 16. When the pressure in main chamber 7 and bellows 16 increases, check valve 9 and check valve 18 are closed, and on achieving certain pressure or receiving a given command from a command unit, controlled valve 19 and 10 are open. The fuel enters the nozzle under high pressure through controlled valve 19 and is injected. The oil is fed to the circulating lubricating system through controlled valve 10. A portion of oil enters additional chamber 8 from main chamber 7 through check valve 13 and passageway 12, and when the pressure in the chamber exceeds a given level or command from the command unit is received, controlled valve 11 is open. In so doing, oil is fed from additional chamber 8 to the circulating lubricating system. When controlled valve 19 is closed or controlled valves 10 and 11 are closed, double-step piston 6 is fixed and its position determines a volume of the dead space of combustion chamber 4 and, hence, the compression ratio.
