Description
In the known methods for producing barium ortho- and trisilicate by fusing cremation acid or, respectively, barium metasilicate with barium carbonate, the reaction is carried out at t 1400 ° - 1500 °. Existing methods indicate that a mixture of silicic acid or barium metasilicate with barium carbonate may be added by water to a liquid paste, then fusing in a revolving furnace or in a tunnel kiln, but what is the short heating becomes dry again and should be considered, therefore, as a dry mixture in the entire combustion zone of the furnace from its inside to the point where the flame enters. To lower the fusion temperature, it is proposed to introduce into the regency space a large amount of water vapor as such or as obtained during the combustion of fuel to heat a furnace rich in hydrogen.
24,74%.Example 1. A mixture of 100 parts of pure barium carbonate and 15.6 parts of sand containing sioj is fused for 2 hours in the presence of water vapor at a temperature of 1100 °. The calcination loss is 24.74%.
If it is accepted that the barium orthosilicate is completely formed during fusion, then when leaching the fusion product, half of the HLO contained in it should pass into the solution, which would correspond to 41 / o of its weight, while the other half should be in the form of barium metasilicate remain undissolved and dissolve only when treated with hydrochloric acid.
During the water leaching of the fusion product, its weights were found as water-soluble BaO and 41 / o soluble only in hydrochloric acid; this shows that barium carbonate when fusing
с песком в присутствии воды при 1100 полностью перешел в ортосиликат бари .with sand in the presence of water at 1100 completely transferred to bari orthosilicate.
2. The same mixture was fused for two hours at 1200 in the absence of water vapor and, on the contrary, gave only 21 water-soluble BaO; only two-hour heating at: 1450 gave 38, water-soluble BaO.
Experimental results show that in the presence of water vapor, the complete transformation of barium carbonate is obtained at a lower temperature.
