Abstract
Leucite or other rock containing alkali and aluminium silicate is fused with lime or calcium carbonate and the product is pulverized and extracted with water, a solution of alkali aluminate being obtained. Carbonic acid, which may be obtained by calcining limestone, is then passed into the solution to obtain alumina and alkali carbonate. The lime and leucite may be mixed in the proportion of 70 to 120 parts of lime to 100 parts of leucite, and the mixture may be made into small briquettes. The heating may be effected in a kiln or rotary furnace, the temperature being 1000-1400 DEG C.ALSO:Leucite or other rock containing alkali and aluminium silicate is fused with lime or calcium carbonate and the product is pulverized and extracted with water, a solution of alkali aluminate being obtained.
