The invention relates to the processing of steel by applying electrically insulating coatings and can be used in metallurgy.

The purpose of the invention is to increase the flowability, wetting ability, decrease the solution polymerization temperature and increase the magnetic properties of the steel.

The solution was prepared as follows.

The magnesium oxide was stirred in water until a homogeneous suspension was obtained, to which orthophosphoric acid was then added in small portions. After complete dissolution of the magnesium oxide, the solution was heated to 70-90 ° C and aluminum hydroxide was added, after dissolving of which boric acid and water-soluble sodium Na3PO +, NaHC03, Na7C03 were added. The resulting solution is cooled / diluted to 10-40 ° C.

The coating was applied to electrical steel, which, after being treated in a solution of the proposed composition, entered the continuous furnace and annealed at 600–850 ° C for 0.5–3.0 minutes.

The quality of the coating on steel was determined on samples taken from coils using standard methods.
