Description

The known method of determining the concentration of higher alcohols in water-alcohol and other mixtures, based on the separation of the mixture by the addition of electrolyte into it.

In comparison with the known method, the accelerated method accelerates and simplifies this process. To carry out the process, a dye is added to the mixture that does not stain higher alcohols after separation, the mixture is moved through the tube under the action of compressed air, and the phase boundary is fixed by a photocell giving a signal to turn off the compressed air, and by the amount of pressure of the latter alcohol. This uses a known device consisting of glass tubes and vessels connected by hoses, provided with clips, a casing with a photocell and an illuminator, a pressure gauge and an electropneumatic relay.

The measuring cell of the device is an i-shaped tube into which one volume of the test mixture and 3-5 volumes of sodium chloride solution are dosed. When higher alcohols are present in the mixture, the mixture is stratified, and there is a definite relationship between the height of the layer and the content in the mixture of higher alcohols. To clearly determine the separation of the layers, a dye is used, which dye only the sodium chloride solution, water and ethyl alcohol, but not the higher alcohols after the separation of the mixture containing them.

The dye prepared according to the following recipe can be used; 1200 g of sodium bromide are dissolved in 1250 g of water and to the resulting solution in small portions 3200 g of 30 / o-acetic acid are added with stirring; the solution is heated and 756 g of glucose is added in small portions. After adding the dye to the water-alcohol mixture containing higher alcohols and its

The photoelectric system is adjusted so that the current of the photocell has a constant value when light high-alcohols pass through the bypass tube. With the passage of a darker solution, the current decreases sharply, the relay cuts off the compressed air supply and the pressure of the compressed air is fixed at the measuring, recording or regulating manometer. The concentration of the high alcohol p mixture is determined from the value of the manometer readings proportional to the percentage of high alcohols in the mixture under study.

The method of determining the concentration of higher alcohols in water-alcohol and other mixtures, based on the separation of the mixture by adding an electrolyte to it, characterized in that, in order to speed up and simplify the processes, a mixture of non-coloring high alcohols after stratification is added to the mixture moved through the tube under the action of compressed air, and the phase boundary is fixed by a photocell, giving a signal to the air off, and the percentage of high alcohol is measured by the pressure of the compressed air.
