Abstract

The invention relates to a filling/emptying device (5) wherein a multi-branch framework structure (8) and a cutting assembly (7) rotatably attached thereto being located in a silo (1) above a surface of mass is vertically movably suspended in flexible hoisting means (11). At least three branches (30) of said framework structure (8) are provided with respective driven rolling means (27) for said hoisting means (11). The rotation of each rolling means (27) for said hoisting means (11) is adapted to be identical to the rotation of the other rolling means (27) for said hoisting means (11) so that the flexible hoisting means (11) associated with a respective branch can be rolled, in a controlled manner, to a corresponding rolling means (27). The invention also relates to a method for guiding a filling/emptying device (5) in a silo (1), the lengths of all flexible hoisting means (11) being kept continuously essentially identical, and each hoisting means (11) operating in parallel with the other ones being rolled at a common speed onto rolling means (27) arranged for the specific hoisting means (11), respectively, in such a manner that each rolling means (27) in a forced operation is rotated with the other rolling means (27).
