Abstract
A support layer for a road, railway roadbed, runway or industrial building floor comprising a compacted layer (2) of graded macadam material - contains a macadam layer with a maximum stone size (S1 max) equal to 60-70 % of the macadam layer thickness and in which the particle size distribution is defined by the provision that no more than 13 % of the macadam layer stone material can pass through a screen with a mesh size equal to one third of S1 max. The macadam layer is impregnated with bitumen (6) and then filled with an asphalt material (3) in at least the upper section.
