Abstract

The steel has a compsn. as follows (in wt.%): 2.2-2.7 C, trace-1.0 max. Si, trace-1.0 max. Mn, 3.5-4.5 Cr, 2.5-4.5 Mo, 2.5-4.5 W, 7.5-9.5 V, and balance Fe. - Pref. after hardening from 1000 deg.C.-1250 deg.C., cooling to room temp. and tempering at 500-600 deg.C., the steel has a hardness of 58-66 HRC. After heat-treatment, it contains 10-20 vol.% MC carbides in the form of V carbides.
