Abstract

The seal for two pipe ends (4,8) each with two opposite-facing, cylindrical sealing surfaces (2,6), has an annular sealing compartment (10) between the surfaces (2,6), a radially compressed seal-part (16) is between the two upper sides of the sealing surfaces (2,6). The annular sealing-compartment (10) contains a rigid protuberance (26) restricting the relative displacement of the sealing surfaces (2,6) to an eccentric position, and thereby reducing the width of the annualar sealing compartment (10) and the compression of the sealing part (16). A radially thinner part is formed between two thin-walled parts (28,30) separated by a cavity (20) in the sealing-ring. ADVANTAGE - Two pipe ends, especially laid underground, are sealed by a sealing ring which is prevented from being unevenly compressed by means of a protuberance.
