Abstract

A flow monitor, in particular for monitoring small quantities of fluids flowing momentarily, comprises a casing (1) with an inlet connexion (2) and an outlet connexion (3) and a casing cavity (6) in which is arranged a piezoelectric bending transducer (10). The latter is clamped at one end in a holding area (12) of the casing cavity (6) situated at a distance from the opening (11) of the inlet (2) and is subjected at its free end to the flow of the quantity of fluid. The bending transducer (10) preferably covers the opening (11) at least in part. Below a defined flow of the quantity of fluid per unit of time the bending transducer (10) is fixed with respect to the opening (11), whereas when this value is exceeded the bending transducer (10) is deflected by the flow and thus delivers a measurable charge displacement as a signal. <IMAGE>
