Abstract
(57) he invention relates to a method for manufacturing and reinforcing a catalytic unit (1) intended for purifying exhaust gases, wherein a helical unit (1) is formed from a corrugated foil band (2) and a straight foil band (3), coated in advance with a support-material layer and a catalyst layer, which unit may be oval or round in shape. After the forming of the unit a support (4) is pressed through the unit, the support preventing the unwinding of the unit and the rubbing of the foil bands against each other, and thus a rigid catalyst unit (1) which will retain its shape is formed.
