Abstract

The switch (26) contains a printed circuit (10) on which are fitted an electronic unit (20) and a membrane housing (12). The membrane (22) inside the housing is of an electrically conductive mixture of silicon rubber and carbon particles. When the membrane is activated by a gas pulse coming in via a pipe (16) connected to the housing (12), it bulges upwards from its rest position to one in which it is current-conductive between two contacts (14). The contacts are coated with a precious metal, e.g. gold, to obviate corrosion problems. - A nipple (18) is fitted in a hole (15) in the printed circuit, to which can be fed a comparative pressure e.g. that of the atmosphere. On the same side of the membrane as the inlet pipe (16) is an adjustable valve (14) via which residual excess pressure beneath the membrane can be evacuated. The membrane is positioned at a short distance from the contacts, so that only a slight pressure difference is required to close the power circuit. (Provisional basic advised week 8738)(2/5)
