Abstract
The water is pumped from the well to a level above the well water surface and allowed to fall freely. It is thus aerated. It is then pumped from the well to a container which is above the water surface. This includes an alkaline filtration substance to raise the pH value. From there the water falls freely to be further aerated. The increase in alkalinity increases the hardness and reduces the carbonic acid content. Aeration oxidies the metals present e.g. iron and manganese.
