Abstract
Drive equipment for a railway vehicle has a traction motor (3) located in a carbody of the vehicle and a gear unit (2) resting on the bogie frame of the vehicle. To accommodate relative movements between the traction motor (3) and the gear unit (2), the traction motor (3) is connected to the gear unit (2) via gear couplings (5, 6) and a torsion shaft (7). To accommodate relative movements between the gear unit (2) and a wheel set (10) of the bogie, the gear unit (2) is connected to the wheel set (10) via a resilient coupling (9) and a quill tube (8). <IMAGE>
