Abstract

In order to limit the terminal voltage of a three-phase asynchronous machine which is supplied from an AC network via a converter which has a line-commutated converter (1), a DC intermediate circuit with an impressed current, and a self-commutated invertor (2), a limiting device (4 to 8) is provided which supplies the energy which occurs in the event of overvoltages in the three-phase asynchronous machine back into the DC intermediate circuit. The limiting device is formed by means of a rectifier (4), which is connected to the output terminals of the invertor (2), inductor coils (6) and a DC chopper converter (8), which is connected to the intermediate circuit and by means of which the energy which is supplied back and the voltage level at the terminals of the three-phase asynchronous machine can be controlled. <IMAGE>
