Abstract

1. Compressed-gas circuit breaker with a sleeve-shaped stationary contact (18) and a corresponding rod- or tubeshaped, axially movable contact (17) and a pump assembly comprising a piston (15) a cylinder (8, 9) which pump assembly (8, 9, 15, 16) is arranged to blast, during the circuit interruption process, pressurized gas around the movable contact and through the stationary contact, the movable contact, for guiding the gas stream, being provided with an insulating cylindrical sleeve (19) encircling the stationary contact in the closed-circuit position and during the interruption process, characterized in that the insulation sleeve (19) extends beyond the free end of the movable contact (17), that its inner diameter is only slightly larger than the outer diameter of the stationary contact (18), and that a ring (20) is fixedly attached to the free end of the stationary contact (18) facing towards the movable contact (17), said ring (20) sealing between the insulating sleeve (19) and the stationary contact (18) during the interruption process and covering the end face of the contact (18) in an arc-diverting manner.
