Abstract

The turbocharger for an internal combustion engine has pipes (12,13) connecting to the inlet and exhaust engine openings in a one piece casing. Inside this is fitted the turbine/compressor unit (16) with axial outlet (14) and inlet (15). The casing has a cylindrical opening (22) completely open at at least one end. Inside this the turbine/compressor unit is fitted in a cylindrical case (20) which can slide axially. The inlet and exhaust pipes are assembled, separately, in one half of the casing which houses the rotors.
