Abstract

The handling and combustion system is for malt waste, this being compressed into containers (3). From the containers it is delivered by a conveyor (6) to a rotary furnace or gas rotor (7), where it is distributed over a fluidised bed whose oxygen content is controlled by returning combustion gases to it or by reducing the oxygen supplied. The gases are then directed to a combustion unit, where they are burnt in secondary air supplied to it. A grinding and grading unit (1) is included for the waste and incorporates a waste compressor (2). There is an ash outlet (10) leading from the rotary furnace.
