Abstract

A dome compass is provided with an opalising or transparent compass rose 6 on which is marked an opaque scale B, S, which is read off against a control segment 9, 10 arranged outside the periphery of the compass rose. The compass rose is illuminated from underneath by a self- lighting source 11, 12 so that the compass rose shines in all angle positions relative to the compass housing and appears as a light colour in the dark, against which the control segment appears as a darker colour to an observer. <IMAGE>
