Abstract

A liquid valve for a storage tank containing liquid and protective gas and designed to prevent high overpressure or underpressure in the tank. The locking action of the valve ceases when the tank has to be flushed with a gas. The valve device comprises, in addition to the two gas chambers 7, 8 situated in the liquid lock and separated by a partition, a third gas chamber 9. The two former gas chambers, in their upper part, are connected to an inlet pipe 12 and outlet pipe 19 and, in their lower part, are joined by the liquid volume in the liquid lock. When the pressure in the chambers is equal, the lower part of the partition is below the liquid level. The lower part in the third gas chamber is filled by a part of the liquid volume and in the upper part an injector 13 is provided, which can produce such an underpressure in the third chamber 9 that the liquid is sucked up in this. The partition ends up above the surface of the liquid volume. The liquid lock is therefore open and the tank can be re- flushed. <IMAGE>
