Abstract

A pipe union component 1 has a surface 1a which is drawn towards a mating surface on a further component by means of a screw threaded nut 2 fastened to the component 1, the nut 2 being freely rotatable thereon. The nut 2 has a flange 6 which engages behind a shoulder 1b. The nut is also prevented from coming loose by an abutment member 9 on the opposite side of the flange to the shoulder 1b. To assemble the union, the nut 2 is slid over a shank of a first component 1, and the abutment member 9 is then slid along the shank and fixed in position to prevent the nut coming off again. <IMAGE>
