1,097,796. Hose couplings. SINGLEHURST ENGINEERING Ltd. Sept. 6, 1966 [Sept.11, 1965], No. 38892/65. Heading F2G. In a re-usable coupling, the socket 1 has a plain cylindrical clamping section 3 between the inner smaller end of a tapered mouth 2 and a recess 5 of a diameter larger than that of the section 3. A screw-thread 6 on the taper which fades away at the adjacent end of the section 3 may extend the full length of or part way along the taper and fade out towards the end of the mouth 2. The socket is screwed on to a hose 16 and a nipple 13 is screwed into the socket to clamp the hose between the nipple and section 3.
