Abstract

1474719 Shovel excavator MARION POWER SHOVEL CO INC 24 Dec 1974 [6 June 1974] 55679/74 Heading E1F A shovelling machine comprises a body 12; a front end assembly 13, 14, 15 mounted on the body and including a digging scoop 16, means for crowding the scoop and including a mast 18 pivotally connected at the lower end thereof to the body and a connecting link 37 pivotally connected at opposite ends thereof to the mast and to the front end assembly; means for hoisting the scoop; and an energy regeneration system including an energy storing means and means actuated by a predetermined movement of at least one component of the front end assembly for charging the energy storing means, the energy storing means providing in the loaded condition a force applicable to a component of the front end assembly for at least biasing the component toward a predetermined movement. Preferably the shovelling machine is a face shovel excavator, the energy-storing means a hydraulic accumulator 137 and the charging means the opposed chambers as appropriately connected to the accumulator of the piston cylinder units 90, 91 controlling movement of the crowd means of the excavator.
