Abstract

A continuously extending V-groove is provided on the top side of a basic member (2). The thickness of the basic member (2) is reduced by an attachment, so that the height of the V-groove in the coupling region is approximately 120% of the diameter of the optical fibres (4, 5) to be coupled. A cover (12) is mounted on the part of the basic member (2) with the greater depth of V-groove. A cover plate (21) is mounted as a pressure member in the coupling region of the basic member (2). A groove (22) on the bearing surface of the cover plate (21) has a depth which corresponds approximately to half the diameter of the optical fibres (4, 5). A pressure pin (23) in the cover plate (21) presses the two ends of the optical fibres (4, 5) to be coupled into the V-groove, and aligns and thereby fixes them therein. <IMAGE>
