Abstract

Conveyor of the type which contains an endless transport belt supported in a stand, for example, in the form of columns arranged at a distance from each other, which consists of two force-absorbing elements formed at a distance from each other and making a single piece with the belt, extending along the entire length of the belt and having in cross section a truncated wedgelike profile with width diminishing from the belt, and a flexible middle piece between the force-absorbing elements, and backing rollers arranged in the stand of the conveyor and interacting with the conveyor belt's force-absorbing elements to support the transport belt in an endless trajectory and drive rollers likewise arranged in the stand for driving of the belt in said trajectory, wherein each such drive roller has at least one groove corresponding to said profile for drive engagement with one force-absorbing element of the belt. In order to improve the possibility of controlling the belt of such conveyors in a curved trajectory as viewed in horizontal projection and especially through tight turns and at the same time keep the required driving force and wear on the belt at the lowest possible level, according to the invention at each point where the transport belt 4 is carried by backing rollers 9, 10 there are arranged at least two backing rollers 9, 10 whose running surface 8 bears against each side of the same force-absorbing element 2, and furthermore these backing rollers 9, 10 have their axes 7 essentially parallel to the respective side of the element. <IMAGE>
