Abstract

1344907 Bearings BEAVER PRECISION PRODUCTS Inc 20 Sept 1971 43762/71 Heading F2A In a rectilinear-motion recirculating roller bearing unit (Figs. 2, 3) having load and return tracks on opposite sides thereof, each roller is crowned convexly lengthwise of its load-bearing portion. The rollers are retained by spring clips 30 which snap over the end caps 33 of the unit. Each roller may comprise two load-bearing portions (Fig. 5, not shown) connected by a waist portion over which an endless elastic band runs as a retainer. In a further embodiment (Figs. 6, 10), bearing units according to the invention are arranged in pairs, each unit of a pair being at right angles to the other. Rollers in such units are retained (a) in the load track by a spring clip 75, which snaps over projecting portions 83 of the end caps 71, and (b) in the return track by a spring plate, which slots into grooves in the inner surface of the sidewalls of the track and is bowed slightly inwardly so as to present a convex face toward the rollers in the track. The rollers shown in Fig. 10, have chamfered ends.
