Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the sideward motion of a belt through the utilization of its elasticity, by making the length of a belt support roller smaller than the width of the belt to place both the side edges of the belt outside those of the roller.
CONSTITUTION: A belt support roller 2 may be either a driving roller or a tension roller. The length of the roller 2 is made smaller than the width of a belt 1 so that the side edges 1a, 1a of the belt are located outside the roller. The portions of the belt 1 outside the belt 1 are deformed toward the axis of the roller 2. Since forces Δt1, Δt2 which prevent the displacement of the belt 1 are caused in said portions, the belt 1 is moved as it remains balanced.
