Abstract
1518723 Disinfecting contact lenses BAUSCH & LOMB Inc 16 July 1976 [18 July 1975] 29768/76 Heading F4U In apparatus for disinfecting hydrophilic contact lenses, a carrying case (not shown) for the lenses is positioned within a compartment 17 formed substantially by a thermal storage member 16 which is heated to a predetermined temperature such as to maintain the lenses at a disinfecting temperature range for a sufficient time period to ensure disinfection. The apparatus comprises a housing 13 for the member 16, which member is of metal and electrically heated, and a hinged cover 18 for the housing includes metal heat absorption member 19. A recess 20 in the member 19 is adapted to co-operate with the compartment 17 to house the carrying case. A starter button on the cover has an extension 29 adapted to co-operate with a thermostat actuator for the heater via an aperture 30 and an indicator element visible through a lens 35 and window in the cover is shut off by an automatic thermostat when cooling of the member 16 is completed.
