Abstract
1504356 Fused-salt metal electro-deposition SONY CORP 14 Nov 1975 [18 Nov 1974] 47121/75 Heading C7B Smooth deposition in such a process is promoted by maintaining dispersed and agitated particles against the cathode. These may be obtained by crystallization of excess electrolyte salt(s) and/or by external addition of e.g. SiO 2 , BN. Examples relate to Ti deposition optionally containing Mn from a bath based on fused chlorides of Ba, Mg, Ca, Na, K, Ti<SP>2+</SP> and Ti<SP>3+</SP> optionally one or more of which is in excess. Zr, Al, Nb, Ta, U or Mn may be similarly deposited. Intermittent, optionally pulsed DC may be used with rotation and/or vibration of cathode and/or mechanical bath agitation.
